Sorry to hear about your problem. You don't need 2GB of memory to run Vista. My laptop worked just fine with 1GB of memory on my Dell laptop.

There are some picky hardware requirements when it comes to Vista. But as far as I know, these requirements went down with Windows 7.

You may want to try Windows 7 on your next laptop.
