Toshiba Vs Dell Laptops ... The Showdown
Choosing a laptop can be difficult. But choosing between Toshiba vs Dell laptops
can be an easy thing.
You see, the thing that separates the two companies is the way that they sell their laptops.
Dell only sells their laptops direct (Update: 12/17/2009 Actually, Dell has been selling their laptops now at Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Although you can usually find a better deal online). This means that they...Eliminate the added costs of selling from a retailer.Only make a laptop when you the customer asks for one.
Toshiba sells their laptops through their website. Or you can buy it from places like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City, and a few other places.
This is certainly a convenient way to get a laptop. But it isn't the cheapest way to get a laptop. For example...
Toshiba will sell a bunch of their laptops to Best Buy. And then Best Buy has to add a little to the price so that they can make a profit.
Dell completely eliminates this extra cost. You can only buy a laptop directly from them. So that saves you money so you can get the best possible laptop.
But what if I want to go to a store and buy a laptop?
Dell realizes that some people like to see a laptop before they buy one. I know I do!
That is why they opened up kiosks in several shopping malls throughout the United States.
From their you can talk to a Dell representative and they can help you get the perfect laptop for you.
Another advantage when comparing Toshiba vs Dell laptops is that Dell only makes a laptop when a customer orders one.
If we go back to the example with Toshiba selling their laptops to Best Buy.
Let's say they sell Best Buy 100 laptops. But it turned out to be a very bad laptop and they only sell 5. Best Buy loses a lot of money!
So what do they have to do?
Increase their prices on the next Toshiba laptops that they get. So Dell's approach is much safer and a lot less expensive.
Toshiba does give you the option of buying direct at their website. But that doesn't mean that they can still sell their laptops cheaply like Dell does.
They have to sell their laptops pretty close to the price that Best Buy and the other places sell their laptops for.
If they didn't and they sold them really cheap online, then nobody would want to buy them from Best Buy!
As you can see, it is pretty clear who wins the Toshiba vs Dell laptops showdown.
If you want the best possible laptop at the best possible price, then Dell is the right choice for you. Just make sure that you learn as much as you can about laptops so you can customize a laptop that will be perfect for you needs.
