Common Acer Laptop Problems With Quick Fixes

Acer is one of the leading manufacturers of consumer laptops. The company manufactures other electronic gadgets including desktops, servers, and mini PCs but it is pretty well known for its line of laptops.

Overall, the performance of Acer laptops is above average. You might encounter several Acer laptop problems and issues but these are really not surprising. Besides, these gadgets are electronic products and could face the same issues commonly found on any electronic device.

The good thing though is that most issues attributed to Acer laptops are not fatal and can be fixed easily. Most importantly, online tech communities as well as the Acer help desks are providing simple fixes to such problems.

Getting The Most Out Of Acer Laptops

You have to remember that Acer is manufacturing consumer laptops for standard users. This means the laptops will perform well for computing tasks that are not too demanding. So if you simply want a portable computer to check your emails, browse the net, perform regular computing tasks, and play non-demanding games, your Acer laptop will serve you well.

On the other hand, you might encounter several performance problems and issues if you use Acer for power computing. Most Acer laptops have on-board integrated graphics card so you can not expect it to perform excellently for high impact gaming.

You can also encounter several issues if you run ‘heavy’ applications for movie editing, graphics design, database software, and similar programs. Your laptop could freeze or it might take forever to lead, especially if you have too many applications running at the same time.

Again, you have to look back at the intended market audience of Acer. These laptops are built for the general public and not suitable for power users. You will be able to minimize performance issues and Acer laptop problems if you’ll go easy on your computing. Most consumer laptops, no matter what the brand is, encounter some performance issues.

Common Technical Issues

Some users have noticed that their Acer heats up quickly and will be followed by a forced shut down. This is a common issue not just with Acer but with other brands of laptops as well. One probable cause of this problem is dirt adhering to the fan of the machine.

Laptops are notorious for building up dust. If the fans are dirty, it will not be able to perform at optimum levels which could result in overheating. This triggers the CPU protective circuit to shut down the machine.

What you can do is carefully clean the fans using compressed air cans or a vacuum cleaner at extremely low levels. Normally, this will fix the problem as dirt is removed from the fan and the thermostat.

Another common problem is stretched images on a widescreen Acer. This is usually not a hardware problem but a configuration problem. The display configuration might be wrong or you may be using an incorrect graphics driver. This can be corrected by downloading the latest graphics driver and the display setting will correct itself.

Acer has become a known brand because its laptops perform well for standard computing tasks. It is true that you may encounter Acer laptop problems from time to time. But these problems are commonly seen on almost all brands of laptops and they can be fixed quite easily.
