Fool Proof Guide To The Laptop Touchpad

The laptop touchpad certainly isn't a favorite for the majority of laptop owners. However, once you get the hang of the touchpad it isn't as difficult as people make it out to be.

For those of you who are complete unaware of the touchpad's features. Here is a brief explanation of what it can do.

If you want to click, you can use the two buttons located directly below the touchpad. Or, you can quickly tap the touchpad area. This will be the same as a left click.

Also, with most laptops you have a scrolling feature. If you run your finger down the far right-hand side you can scroll down the page.

This certainly takes some getting used to! And once again, your laptop's touchpad might not support this.

Another cool feature that you can have is called TapZones...


TapZones are a really cool feature and a big advantage over the mouse. However, it is certainly something that you have to get used to.

TapZones are various things you can do by simply tapping in the corners of your touchpad. All of these things can be found in the Control Panel on your computer. How to get there is explained in the following section...

How do you turn off your touchpad?

Turning off your laptop touchpad is very simple. First you must go to
Start -> Control Panel.

From here you will be in one of two situations. If your control panel looks like this...

Then it will be much easier if you switch to classic view. This can be found on the left hand side of the Control Panel.

Your Control Panel should now look like this if it didn't already...

It is probably a good idea to keep your control panel in classic view. It is much easier to navigate in.

Double click on Mouse and this is what should pop up.


From here you should be able to figure it out. Now you don't have to worry about messing with that touchpad again!
