Are you annoyed and frustrated by the start menu? Well you can speed up start menu so you can worry about more important things.

Windows has been designed to be fancy visually. But sometimes these added effects are very frustrating and slow.

One thing that has always frustrated me is how slow the start menu folders open and close.

Fortunately, I found a simple trick that speeds things up drastically!

In order to accomplish this, first click the start menu. Then right click My Computer and hit properties.

From there, click on the Advanced Tab and hit the Performance Settings.

From here, all you have to do is uncheck the box that says Fade or slide menus into view and hit Apply.

But hey why stop there!

If you don't mind if Windows XP isn't visually appealing, and you just want it to perform as fast as possible...

...try clicking on the button that says Adjust for best performance. This will drastically improve the performance of Windows. Although, it might not be as pretty as it used to be.

Experiment with these options. They can only improve the performance of your laptop.
